Area Information
Denton County is located in north central Texas,
covering 911 square miles. It was formed by the Texas legislature in
1846. An area rich in pioneer history, it borders Dallas and Tarrant
counties on the south and Cooke and Grayson counties on the north.
The city of Denton has served as the county seat since 1857.
Aubrey, Pilot Point, Sanger, and the surrounding
areas offer residents a quiet, small town atmosphere with the
advantage of easy access to big city amenities. The Aubrey area is
12 miles northeast of the city of Denton on US Hwy 377. The city of
Denton and surrounding areas are conveniently located for easy
access to the DFW Airport and the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex by East
and West Interstate 35.
A quick trip
east on US Hwy 380 and connecting with State Hwy 289 south takes you into
Plano and North Dallas. The North Dallas Tollway, which presently connects
North Plano to downtown Dallas and the Dallas Market Center, is being
extended to connect with US Hwy 380. |

Culture . . . The Aubrey area is
conveniently located for easy access to a wide variety of shopping,
entertainment and cultural attractions.
Nearby Denton's historic
Denton County Courthouse houses the Historical Museum with exhibits
ranging from Denton County history and Old West artifacts to American
pressed blue glass. The TWU campus exhibit, Gowns of the First Ladies of
Texas, displays inaugural gowns of wives of presidents of the Republic of
Texas and state governors.
Nearby Grapevine's Main Street is filled with sites
listed in the National Register of Historic Places. A walking tour is the
perfect way to see the sites. Or catch the Tarantula Railroad train for a
trip to the historical Ft. Worth Stockyards.

A quick trip down I-35 W to Ft.
Worth and its Culture District nets the visitor a variety of
entertainment. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Will Rogers
Memorial Center, Botanical Gardens, and the Ft. Worth Zoo, all within a
hop, skip, and a jump of each other, can pack a punch to any family trip.

Head east to Dallas and catch the Cotton Bowl
and the many museums at Fair Park. The West End Historic District, the
Arts District, the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, and J.F.K. Memorial
